In our initial meeting we will review the contract together to ensure that you understand and can ask questions about anything that is unclear. Consent is incredibly important before moving forward in therapy. The first 2-3 sessions will be focused on building our therapeutic relationship and allow me to gather important information that will help determine my clinical recommendations for the course of treatment. Together, we will come up with specific treatment goals to work towards in future sessions.
Therapy is a process that differs for everyone depending on circumstances, the severity of their concern, and other factors. While some issues can be resolved in 3-4 months, others enjoy or need therapy for extended periods of time. This is an issue that can be explored in sessions to ensure that you are receiving the best quality care.
If you don’t have health insurance or pay for health care bills yourself, generally, health care providers and facilities must give you an estimate of expected charges when you schedule an appointment for a health care item or service, or if you ask for an estimate. This is called a “good faith estimate.”
I do not take insurance and only accept private pay at this time. Working separately from insurance allows me more flexibility with regards to the mental health concerns I can treat, the types of treatments I can provide, and how long you can participate in therapy. I do accept payment options including Health Spending Accounts (HSA’s) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s). A superbill will be provided to you each month, which you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
A superbill is a detailed invoice that includes details about the service provided during visits, diagnostic codes, procedure codes, and costs which can be submitted to your insurance to seek reimbursement. Please consult with your insurance plan directly to determine what types of services they will reimburse.
If you are seeking court ordered therapy, I will need to review the court order to ensure that I can fulfill the requirements needed by the court. I will not communicate with the court directly or provide documentation to attorneys.
If the other parent does not want to consent for therapy services, I will need to review any current custody orders to see whether you have sole custody or if custody is shared. In cases where you share custody, it will require the other parent to also sign consent.
The therapeutic relationship is key to successful outcomes. If at any point it does not feel like we are a good fit, please let me know and I will be happy to provide referrals to other professionals in the area.
